What user groups is e-primo suitable for?
e-primo is ideally suited for small locking systems in private residential buildings and on business premises as owners can quickly make changes to authorisations and take immediate action in the event of key loss.
Will an e-primo cylinder fit into my surroundings?
Its design not only adapts itself to different door situations, but also to individual surroundings. You yourself can select the type of high-grade metal surface and the colour of the thumb turn.
User keys are available from your specialist retailer in many different designs. Users decide which their favourite design is and then assign it a delete key.
Can anyone use an e-primo cylinder?
Using e-primo is child's play - Hold the key against the thumb turn, wait for a positive feedback signal from the cylinder, then turn. For stiff locks there is a thumb turn model with an extra grip, so that users can get a better hold on the thumb turn and their hands don't slip.
How does the e-primo cylinder communicate with the user?
Using optic and acoustic feedback signals (e.g. green light means "door can be opened"), which are intuitive and logical in their form.
How many user keys does a person need? Can I use my user key for numerous doors at different locations?
Users only require a single user key, which they can use with e-primos at home, for instance, and also for other doors. This key can also be used to activate the office function - the permanently open mode.
How can I check whether a user key is authorised when it has already been issued or it has been lost?
Just hold the associated delete key against the thumb turn. The cylinder will show you its status.
As an owner, or superuser, can I issue access authorisations?
Super users can assign and delete authorisations for people at doors at any time as required. They have unique control over access.
How are access authorisations issued?
Just authorise the user key at the cylinder. Special delete keys are used to delete authorisations.
How can I ensure that a door can be opened without a user key on a temporary basis (office function)?
In the case of door furniture without an outside handle, the cylinder can be switched to the office function, a permanently open mode. The outside thumb turn remains engaged and the door can be opened via the lock cylinder-to-latch function.
I already have a iButton user key. Can I continue to use it?
Most probably yes. Just programme a delete key, so you are able to delete it easily if lost. You can then use your existing user key.
What do I do when a key is lost?
Just delete the user key at the e-primo cylinder using the associated delete key (card). Only this key will be deleted. Other programming remains in place.
How secure is the e-primo cylinder in the face of mechanical attack?
The e-primo cylinder features drilling and plug pulling protection as standard. The engage mechanism is installed on the inside, where it is safer.
I have inherited the cylinder from someone else. How can I ensure that there are no authorised keys in circulation which I am unaware of?
You just need to reset the cylinder to the default factory setting. All authorisations are thus withdrawn from existing user keys. User keys can then continue to be used and missing delete keys can be replaced. From now on, you decide who you authorise. Resetting to factory settings can also be restricted to the presence of a programming key.
Can different superusers be used for doors?
You can assign a second "administrator" to each door.
Can I change the superuser at a later date?
This can be done quickly and easily, even during operation. Access authorisations for the door remain in place.
Can anybody activate the office function?
No. The owner decides who is allowed to activate or end the office function (permanently open mode).
Can I also restrict the office function for the cylinder on a temporary basis?
Yes. You can deactivate the office function for the whole cylinder (global office function). When the office function re-activated, persons authorised for the office function retain their privilege.
Can I block the door temporarily without changing the programming?
Yes! You simply use the blocking key, a quick procedure which doesn't require extra programming. Existing authorised users can use it again once you exit the blocking mode using the programming key.
You need to hold the door on permanently open mode immediately - for the fire service, for instance.
The emergency opening key sets the cylinder to permanently open and identification is now no longer required. When the superuser has exited permanently open mode, only authorised persons can now use it.
Where can I purchase the product?
The product's simplicity means it can be widely distributed through specialist retail outlets. The retailer or adept customers can install and programme the product themselves.
Where can I use the product?
The e-primo cylinder fits into standard cylinder cut-outs in doors or gates and is very easy to use in most doors. No holes need to be drilled into the door.
Does installation take a lot of time and effort?
No. In the case of standard escutcheons, only the outer thumb turn needs to be removed to install the Euro profile cylinder. The cylinder is then inserted through the escutcheon and lock, the face plate screw is affixed and the outside thumb turn is re-fitted. Now you only need to programme and then you're finished.
All the tools you require are included in the package.
How are access authorisations issued?
No PC, no management software and no programming device are required. You conveniently programme authorisations using function keys and user keys.
Who do I contact if I have any questions?
First of all, you can ask your trained specialist retailer. They will be happy to give you detailed advice. You can also find further information on this website. The operating instructions are available as a PDF download.
An "e-primo for Dummies" instruction book is in the process of being produced.
Does the e-primo cylinder fit into all doors?
The e-primo cylinder is suitable for lock and escutcheon combinations featuring Euro profiles, round profiles or oval profiles. The shortest cylinder length is 27 mm, on the inside and the outside.
Can the e-primo cylinder be used with my security escutcheon?
In the case of escutcheons with cylinder and plug covers, there needs to be a hole 17 mm in diameter in the plug area.
Can the e-primo cylinder be used with anti-panic locks? (where locked doors are opened on the inside using a handle)
There are different versions available for different anti-panic locks which the lock manufacturer has approved for installation (e.g. G-U BKS). Contact your specialist retailer for more details.
Is there a starter package?
Yes. You can purchase a starter package containing an e-primo cylinder and media kit.
What does a starter package contain exactly?
The starter package consists of an e-primo cylinder, three user keys, four delete keys, a programming key and a copy key. You will also find all components you require for placing it in operation - an installation tool, battery, gasket, etc.
Is my e-primo locking system extendable?
You can extend your e-primo locking system as required with additional cylinders, user keys and function keys. Your specialist retailer will gladly offer you guidance.
What happens when the battery runs out?
An acoustic and optical feedback signal will give you advanced warning in good time when battery capacity is running out. After the system indicates the battery is low, it will still function for around 2,000 opening procedures.
Where can I purchase replacement batteries?
Standard batteries are used and are available from your specialist retailer.
How long does the battery last?
The battery is designed for a service life of around 60,000 activations within a year.
Is programming lost when the battery is replaced?
No. Programming, of course, remains in place.
What do I do if the battery low warning was missed?
If the warning was missed, the door can be opened by the owner or the specialist retailer using the emergency power device - and, of course, only if you use an authorised user key. The emergency power opening cable can only be inserted on the outer side of the thumb turn.
